For "settings" in the sense of game options, see: Controls & Options.

Settings are distinct worlds with different appearances, and commonly called "biomes".

As in the first two titles, Classic and New Lands, the only setting available was Europe, the concept of "settings" itself has only been introduced with Kingdom Two Crowns, where players could chose from the options available at the starting screen.

When Shogun was announced to be released along with Two Crowns, Raw Fury made it clear that these alternative worlds aren’t reskins, they are settings that offer different strategies to ruling in Kingdom.[1] The first alternative world delivered a little of that, mainly with the ninja being a replacement for the pikeman. But only with Dead Lands one could say that initial design is acomplished, with deep changes to the core mechanics of the game—the most remarkable one being the possibility of switching Monarchs, and Monarchs with special skills, during the campaign.
